Who is the TN Farmgirl?

Welcome to my little corner of the internet!  Pour yourself a cup of tea (or coffee if that's your thing) and let's get to know each other!

My name is Cheri and I am a daughter of The King of Kings!  I love the Father and I love His Son. I study the Hebrew Torah along with the rest of the Old Covenant and the Renewed Covenant.  I pray.  I celebrate Shabbat and His feasts...our "dress rehearsals"! I am thankful to Yahweh for my life and everything in it, for each day and what it brings. I am learning that it is all good.

I am a wife to an incredible Southern Gentleman, a mama to 4 awesome young men, a daughter to my mama (who lives with us!), an aunt to my niece Makayla, mama-in-law to three amazing and talented women, and Mimi to three adorable grandhcildren!

I have homeschooled  for 28 years (2016 was my last year!). I love to spend time with my family. I admire and enjoy them all - they are amazing!

I use essential oils everyday! I clean with them, cook with them, diffuse them in our home, apply them topically and take them internally - they are part of our normal health regimen and they keep my home smelling amazing!  You can learn more here!

I LOVE the simple homestead life!

I've been studying and using herbs medicinally for over 35 years. I am a second generation herbalist. My first experience with herbal medicine was when I was about 5 or 6 and my Aunt Annie picked some herbs from her "medicine patch" and made me a cup of herbal tea to settle my upset tummy! I've been making my own herbal remedies for almost 20 years now!

I own a farm, have beef cows, milk cows, goats, chickens, bees, cats, dogs and guinnea hens.

I am glad I was raised in the south, it's a kinder and gentler place :) I love sweet tea...a little too much! I bake bread, make cereal, churn butter, make cheese and cook most everything from scratch.

I once helped butcher a cow and still help butcher chickens each year. I've worked bees, mucked barns, filled our greenhouse each spring, mowed and hayed fields, helped birth farm babies, helped do field surgery on a goat, tubed goats, buried animals I've loved and loved on new babies each spring.

Goat babies are the cutest creatures on the farm.

I love to hear a baler working and to see the bales on a freshly hayed field.

I wish I knew how to knit. I want to learn to spin yarn and weave on a loom.

I am mad about mason jars!  I use them for vases, for drinking cups, for crafts and to store anything and everything!

I love to cook, especially for family and friends. For us Southern women, cooking and feeding people is one of the ways we love on them :)

I was a foster mom for years. Did I mention that I pray?

I am an organizational junkie - I think it is one of my gifts! Spreadsheets are my friends.

I love to dig in the dirt, grow a big garden and "put up" the bounty.

I am a follower of the Messiah.

I don't like to shop (except for garage sales and farm stores!)

I love Dave Ramsey's teachings.

I love to scrapbook.

I love to laugh.

I am lost without my Ipad - it's my other brain.

I am crazy about cast iron - stoves, cookware, tea pots...don't you just LOVE it?! I rescue rusted pieces from thrift stores, take them home and make them beautiful again!

I am a second generation soap maker!

I like to milk goats but not cows.  I don't like to work the bees. I like to sit under the tree and drink lemonade on a hot summer day.  I like to work in the greenhouse.

I am a tea drinker.

Fall is my favorite season!

I don't watch network T.V....ever. I love to read but don't have as much time as I'd like. I've been known to wake my boys in the middle of the night to look at stars.  I love a hammock.  I love to write. I wish I could paint (not walls...pictures!)

I like to read anything by Jane Austen and Todd Bennett.  I use the Complete Jewish Bible and The Scriptures. I attend the most awesome church in the world.

I think Ron Paul is right.

I think Jane Austen was a genius.

I have amazing friends.

I am an optimist.

I make mistakes often.

I am learning to see my Father in all things and to give Him glory in all things.

I have a hard time doing nothing.

I wish I could go to the beach for a week!

I am broken and bruised. I am a sinner saved by grace.

Blessings,
